2018 IGSSA Athletics Carnival – Tuesday 11 September

With just a few days to go until the conclusion of our 2018 Athletics season, we would like to wish all our competitors every personal success and improvement, as they represent the College in battle next week.

I would like to personally thank Mr Teo, Ms Poetschka and all our coaches for their tireless efforts in preparing the squad. Despite the numerous injuries and unfortunate setbacks that often affect large teams in preparation, it has been exciting to see so many new members join our Athletics squad this year, their dedication to training, and the constant improvements and personal bests that are being noted every week.

We wish the best for every competitor in setting a new personal best next week at the IGSSA Carnival!

For squad members – do not forget that today (Friday 7 September) is the final opportunity for you to purchase tickets to the Squad Breakfast and Dinner functions, by using the following booking link: www.penrhos.wa.edu.au/book-tickets

And for those squad members still wishing to purchase sprint shoes for Tuesday, your last chance to secure shoes is Monday – make sure you contact Ms Poetschka over the weekend via email on poetsr@penrhos.wa.edu.au to secure your shoes.

Congratulations Jane McGuire – National Polocrosse selection

Following three squad selection tournaments in September and October last year and then two team selection weekends in August this year, the WA State polocrosse teams have been announced and Jane McGuire has been selected to play in the Junior Girls side. She will compete in the Swan Valley Australian National Polocrosse Championships from 1-7 October 2018 at the State Equestrian Centre, Brigadoon.

Congratulations Jane!

Athletics Staff News

I would love to share with you a little news about our Head Athletics Coach, Bryce Teo... More than 20 competitors took part in the 2018 Live Lighter Mullewa Gift, held at the 85th Mullewa Agricultural Show on August 25.

The running event, which started in 1926, is the highest value athletics event on the WA regional calendar, boasting a total prize pool of $5000. Bryce took out the 120m gift, crossing the line in 12.113 seconds.

Congratulations Mr Teo!

Penrhos Free Community Outdoor Movie Nights are here again!

We will again be holding Penrhos Picnic and Pictures in Term 4 - these two movie nights will be free for you to attend, bring a picnic and enjoy the movies after dark with your friends, family and the Penrhos Community.

What we will be watching will again be determined by our students and voting will take place towards the end of Term 3.

Some food stalls, popcorn and drinks will be available for purchase on the evening, or simply pack your own picnic and enjoy the feature films in the outdoors, on the large screen.

We will publicise the movies once the girls have voted and the screening rights have been secured, however put the following dates in your diary now, to avoid double-booking:

Friday, 9 November
Junior School Movie Screening – Junior School Oval

Friday, 23 November
Secondary School Movie Screening – CADC Amphitheatre Lawn

These movie nights will be free for you to attend, but you will require a ticket, to ensure our capacity controls.
