Do It For Cancer — a hairy sacrifice

Let it never be said that the Penrhos students do not have a generous spirit! On Monday, this was evidenced in style as 13 Secondary School students sacrificed their magnificent locks in the ‘Do It For Cancer’ head shave, in the name of charity.

Congratulations to Zoe Dick (Year 12) who initiated and organised this event, demonstrating great leadership. Zoe was joined by fellow Year 12s, Harini Weerakoon, Alyssa Zhao, Tiffany Lee, Claire Atwood, Georgia Grose; Year 10s, Sophie McPhail, Sarrah Cornall, Claudia Crotty, Year 7s, Caitlyn Roshkov, Chloe Montero, Racquel Parsons. Special mention to Isabelle Irving from Year 10 who also made the hairy sacrifice for charity.

The girls initially set a target of $10,000, revised this to $20,000 and have thus far raised $28,575 for the Cancer Council. How brilliant is that!

Amanda Young Fair — Friday, 29 March

The Year 12s have also set their sights on raising funds for the Amanda Young Foundation during our annual celebration -The Amanda Young Fair, Friday 29 March. Years 2 to 12 will be dressing up as their favourite cartoon or TV character and hopefully supporting the multitude of food stalls available in the Margaret Way Courtyard across recess (Years 2 to 4) and lunch (Years 5 to 12).

Balance Does Matter

Over the past few weeks, the students have wholeheartedly embraced a number of pursuits across Junior and Secondary Schools:

  • JS Interhouse Swimming and IGSSA Swimming
  • Year 6 Teatime Concert and SS Eisteddfod
  • Ash Wednesday and Pancake Day
  • Penrhos Fun Run
  • International Women’s Day
  • Years 8 and 10 Socials and Year 11 Dance
  • Years 5, 7, 9 Camps
  • Maths Week

Opportunities abound at Penrhos and it is fantastic to see our students making the most of what is on offer.

Updating of records

Yesterday you would have received an email from Registrar Courtney McPhee, encouraging you to review and update your records. This is an important part of our annual data management and I would like to remind you to check your email and follow the prompts where appropriate. This includes medical records and photo permissions.
