Fundraising for projects in Laos

Fundraising has commenced for the projects that our girls will be devoting their time and community service to in Laos, when they travel there in November 2019. Lucinda’s Everlasting seeds are for sale, with 50% of sales going toward the projects in Laos that will support a variety of needs in local villages. Download this form and complete your order with payment by Week 5 of Term 2.

Keith Reynolds will be managing the collection of forms via a locked deposit box in Student Services. You can buy a small packet for $10, or large packet for $20. These seeds will grow into beautiful pink Everlasting flowers that will brighten your day, and help support the people of Laos.

Salvation Army Street Outreach Program

This year we have started taking Year 12 students once a month to volunteer at the Salvation Army before school. They are in charge of running the soup truck, which includes serving hot food and beverages and greeting those in need with chatty banter and a smile to brighten their day. So far our Community Service Captain Hannah Knight and her peers Jemma Schofield and Harini Weerakoon have done two shifts in February and March, displaying great service to their community.

The next run is in the holidays with a group of Year 12s joining Renee Poetschka and Kristy Banner, along with volunteer staff (Phil and Lee) from the Salvos.

Menrhos speaker event

Penrhos dads gathered to hear Professor Bruce Robinson at the recent speaker event proudly hosted by Menrhos. Professor Robinson is the founder of The Fathering Project which aims to encourage and equip dads to engage effectively with their children.

Rowers provide a feast at Curtin University’s Astrofest

Our Penrhos rowers and dedicated Friends of Rowing volunteers were busy fundraising by feeding the crowds at the recent Astrofest event held at Curtin University. This is just one of the fundraising efforts to support our girls in the lead up to the Head of the River Regatta hosted by Penrhos on 29 June, at Champion Lakes. We also wish our rowing squad a wonderful weekend away at the Eaton Rowing camp, leaving tonight.

Esha and Lucy scale to new heights!

This April holidays two of our bravest Year 12s will abseil the QV1 building. School Captain Esha Jessy and Lucy Ford are raising funds for The Adventurers who support medical research to find better treatments and the cure for childhood brain cancer. Please show your support here:
